Courageously Conquering: Mia's Inspiring Journey Through Breast Cancer

"Three years ago I was in the hospital prepping for surgery. I was terrified, anxious, overwhelmed, unsure, and felt so alone.

I didn’t know yet that this surgery would save my life. I didn’t know yet that having a mastectomy would take all the cancer out with my breast. I didn’t know yet that I would love my body no matter the scars, no matter the missing pieces, no matter what others thought.

I didn’t know yet that I would come out the other side of all this as a stronger, more confident version of myself. That I would share so much with others. That I would grow and heal and find self love I’ve never had before.

Three years later and I’m embracing life more. I’m getting out of my comfort zone. I’m trusting myself and following my gut.

So grateful for this life. Grateful for these surgeries. For being seen and listened to by my doctors. For the care I received by my medical team and by my family and friends. For the cancer community and meeting so many other women going through this shitstorm alongside me.

Here’s to another three years of health, learning and photo sessions." - Mia
