I am not a laid back person. I never have been. I wish I was more relaxed, but I’m just not wired that way. I worry and get stressed especially when situations are ‘unknown’. Then the coronavirus pandemic hit and my anxiety was at an all time high.
I started going to counseling and realized I needed help to get control of my anxiousness which turned to depression. Things are now better, but not perfect and that’s okay. It’s all about baby steps.
I keep a gratitude journal and write down positive things each day.
I’ve started to cut back on things that peaked my anxiety and depression such as alcohol and caffeine.
I do more for myself and what truly makes me happy instead of saying yes all the times to others all the time.
And most of all, I no longer beat myself up when I’m having a bad day mentally. I move forward the next day.
Look after yourself and be patient. Thank you so much for reading. - Erika, IN
