I was diagnosed with stage III pancreatic cancer in August 2016. Doctors told me my chances of survival were slim. After defeating all odds, I made it through extensive treatment. I understand that not everyone wins a battle with a disease or illness. I also realize that tomorrow is never promised. I now look at my everyday life as a blessing and take each day as it comes. From the food I eat, to the roof over my head; I’ve learned to look at all things differently that I used to take for granted.
My advice to anyone struggling with a disease or illness is to take each day at a time. When you’re staring at something like this, you have to make every moment count; that’s the only way to get through it: day-by-day. Whether you’re currently battling, know someone battling, or have lost someone to an illness, we’re in this battle together! - Kara, OH
